Hampus Linderholm studied his undergraduate degree and soloist diploma at the music academies in Gothenburg, Stockholm, and Cologne between 1997–2005. His main teacher was Frans Helmerson, but he also studied regularly with Mats Rondin, Torleif Thedéen, and Lynn Harrell. Through masterclasses, Hampus received instruction from some of the world’s leading teachers, including William Pleeth, Ralph Kirshbaum, Heinrich Schiff, and conductor Seiji Ozawa.

Hampus has performed at festivals and competitions across Europe, the USA, and New Zealand, and has appeared on several occasions on Sveriges Radio P2, SWR, and SVT. He has frequently been invited to chamber music festivals as both soloist and chamber musician, performing in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and at renowned festivals such as Verbier (2002–2004), Schwetzinger Festspiele (2003), the Polar Music Prize (2004), Seiji Ozawa’s Chamber Music Festival in Blonay (2005), and the Gotland Chamber Music Festival (2006).

Between 2007–2010, Hampus was the artistic director of the chamber music festival Strängnäs Summermusic. As a soloist, he has performed concertos by Saint-Saëns, Schumann, Dvořák, Elgar, Haydn, Martinů, and Shostakovich with orchestras including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, GWO, and SAMI.

Hampus has also worked as a freelance principal cellist with ensembles such as Dalasinfoniettan, Norrlandsoperan, Camerata Nordica, Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Since 2009, he has held the position of Principal Cello at the Gothenburg Opera and has taught at the music academies in Örebro, Gothenburg, and Piteå.

From 2018–2020, Hampus was Visiting Associate Professor of Cello at the University of Stavanger, where he was responsible for master’s level students. He plays an Italian instrument acquired with the support of an exclusive sponsorship from Sparbanken Rekarne in Strängnäs.

In 2014, Hampus released his debut album Nordic Cello Soul, which was warmly received by the international press. In spring 2017, he performed Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante as soloist with the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra under Henrik Schäfer, on the main stage. Between 2018–2020, he performed the complete Beethoven sonatas on several occasions, collaborating with pianists Mats Jansson and Hans-Petter Tagen.

In autumn 2021 & 2024, Hampus took part in a highly acclaimed and internationally noted production of Pierrot Lunaire at the Gothenburg Opera together with Kerstin Avemo. In 2023, he performed Atterberg’s Cello Concerto in Eskilstuna.
